about

permafrost was recorded in early 2010 during an exceptionally long and cold winter, at least for the part of europe i live in.

originally intended to be a soundtrack for a sleep concert in your living-room, the single tracks had a playing time of more than 40 minutes each. i soon learned that not everyone would embrace a download-only album, thus i condensed the five tracks into something a little more manageable and less grandiose that would fit onto one cd.

the version here is the cdr release that was available for a time between 2010 and 2012 before i phased out the all-black cdr due to increasing difficulties when sourcing the required materials. all in all, there were about 50 copies sold until the release became unavailable.

the sound of ice plays a central role in this recording.
